How much is your Excel file really costing you?
"Our system works, why change?" It's a natural reaction. But have you really measured what your current organization is costing you?
Invisible time
Here are tasks we no longer notice because they've become routine:
- Re-entering information — From email to Excel, from Excel to Word, from Word to another system.
- Searching for information — "Which email was that in again?" "Which file is the right one?"
- Verifying consistency — Comparing two sources to make sure the numbers match.
- Correcting errors — A shifted cell, a broken formula, an accidentally deleted row.
Individually, these tasks seem trivial. But multiplied by the number of employees and weeks, they represent entire days of work lost each month.
Errors that cost money
A quote sent with the wrong price. An order forgotten in an email. A client contacted twice by two different people. These errors aren't inevitable — they're symptoms of inadequate tools.
Missed opportunities
Without centralized data, it's impossible to answer simple questions:
- What's our average delivery time?
- Which clients haven't ordered in 6 months?
- What's the profitability by project type?
This information exists in your data. But if it's scattered across dozens of files, it remains untapped.
Calculate the true cost
Take a week and note the time spent on these "administrative" tasks. Multiply by your employees' hourly rate. The result is often surprising — and more than justifies the investment in a proper tool.
